How this is measured
A cron job reads the same public HACS data feeds the directory uses, once a day, and appends one line per repository. This page compares the newest snapshot against the one 7 days earlier. Ranking uses GitHub stars, because they are the only counter in the feed that accumulates: the download figure in the feed counts the latest release only and restarts whenever a project cuts a new tag, so ranking by downloads would surface recent releases rather than real adoption.
